Technical Seminar:  Electronic Transmission Diagnosis

Transmissions are controlled by the engine control system and use many of the same sensors and the sensors used in the transmission should be familiar to drivability technicians. Many transmission symptoms might be caused by engine controls. You must be able to determine if the problem is in the engine or the transmission. Many drivability technicians have the diagnostic equipment and the skills necessary to diagnose these problems and make the repair. Don’t let these opportunities pass you by. In this class, you will learn to determine if the engine or the transmission is causing the symptom you are experiencing. Popular electronic inputs and outputs will also be covered. Learn strategies and repairs that can be made without transmission removal and disassembly. Learn common failure items for popular transmissions and stop turning these jobs away.

Attend this class to learn about:

  • Transmission controls
  • Inputs which control the transmission
  • Repairs without transmission removal
  • Determining if the engine or the transmission is at fault
  • Common failure items
  • Diagnostic and repair tips
